This is my entry to the Etsy Beadweavers April Challenge EBWC Time Machine.
I call it "As Times Collide" . !! .......Made today, using the traditional Peyote stitch, and inspired by our Roman ancestors, closed with an Edwardian button circa 1910 and featuring my variation of the eternal tree and bird design symbolizing love and marriage. !!

My inspiration for this beadwoven cuff bracelet was the magnificent "Pompeii and the Roman Villa" Exhibition at the Smithsonian Museum I visited last month.
I wanted to create a timeless piece reminiscent of the ancient mosaics.
My main inspiration was the classical Cave Canem ,Beware of the Dog mosaic placed on the ground at the villa gates. I adjusted it to a more welcoming piece that says "Welcome to my Garden!".
For the background, I used a mix of tiny seedbeads in various whites, cream, tans, some opaque, some translucent. These beads vary slightly in size and create a very slight distortion that gives the feel of a piece by piece mosaic. I wanted to eliminate as much as possible the look of regular bead lines. The bracelet closes with a loop and the addition of a large steel antique Edwardian button from my own button collection. I chose this button as it depicts a gate with rambling flowers. Welcome to my Garden.
